Color
Choices
Brunettes look better in deeper, brighter blue-based shades.
Blond hair with skin that tans easily should look for cool,
powdered blue-based shades. A redhead with delicate skin
will want to choose makeup with warm, golden tones. Blond
hair with fair, delicate skin that burns easily should opt for clear,
bright, warm shades.
HINT: Never assume that brown, earth
tones look good on everyone. They don't! There are cool earth tones
and warm earth tones. Choose the ones that work best with your natural
coloring. Always use colors in the same color family. When using
coral lipstick, go with a coral blush. If you choose a blue-based
burgundy lipstick, use a blush with the same blue base.
Eye
Shadow
Try to achieve a natural-looking gradation of color from dark to
light as you go from lash to brow. Powder the lid area to prime
it to receive the shadow color.Apply darker accent color just above
the lashes blending upwards and outwards to the outer corner. Apply
lighter base color from lash to brow bone as a highlight.
Dual Pressed Powder
Dual Pressed Powder can be applied after liquid foundation or alone.
Apply with dry sponge or slightly dampened sponge for smoother coverage.
Apply in even strokes working towards the hairline and jaw line.
Use edge of sponge or fluffy brush to lightly brush off excess powder.
Liquid Foundation
Place small dots of foundation on forehead, cheeks, nose and chin
areas, then blend outward with hands towards hairline and jaw line.
For lighter coverage, apply with a damp sponge. To maintain a natural
look, also apply from jaw line to neck.
Blush
Use blush for subtle shaping of cheeks, not heavy contouring. Maintain
a natural look by combining subtle coloring with skillful blending.
Apply under the cheekbone with long even strokes in an outward direction.
Limit placement of blush to the middle of the eyeball outwards,
and the middle of the cheekbones downward.
Mascara
Apply two or three light coats to gradually build coverage. Brush
outwards away from the face starting with the tips of the lashes
then working towards the roots. After each set of coats, separate
lashes with an eyelash comb.
Eye Liner
Outline your upper eye lid from the outer corner to the inner corner,
then your lower lid from the outer corner 3/4 of the way to the
inner corner. Smudge from outer corner to inner eyelid for a smoky
effect. A thin line will look natural; yet highlight your eyes and
lashes.
Lip Liner
Your lip liner color should be darker than your lipstick color so
it can act as a border. Outline the "V" in the middle of your upper
lip, then the upper lip, then the lower lip, all the way to the
corners. You can subtlety reshape your lips by first outlining with
lip liner then filling in with lipstick.
Lipstick
Use a lip brush whenever possible, starting at the center and working
towards the corners. Apply lipstick right up to but not over lip
liner line. Blot lightly with tissue to remove excess lipstick.
To reshape your lips: 1) use a light-brownish pencil, 2) add a second
line in your lip liner color just inside the first line, 3) blend
the two lines by patting with your finger, and 4) fill in with lipstick.
